Witches are also called Red Widows by people. In proto-Slavic languages "red" has the meaning of "beautiful". Widows, or Witches truly have a magnificent beauty. That being said, Red Widow is also the presence of red tattoos all over the body of these gorgeous women, but very dangerous. All Witches are blind, for legend has it that after their husbands died in battles with humans, the women of these forest creatures were blinded by revenge. Their loss of sight is a reminder that the "Great Vengeance" is still in force, and thus the kingdom of men has not been conquered or destroyed. The "Great Endless Forest", of which they are children, requires balance, which means men of men must be sacrificed. Only after the right number of men have been destroyed can the Witches regain their sight. Witches are skilled in battle, have magical powers and are a very dangerous creature in the world of Assaria.
